It is the goal of the college to acknowledge employee contributions, to the mission of the college, in a way that is meaningful to all employees. The EMIE, IDEAL, and Elliott awards provide a way for individuals to nominate employees who have demonstrated excellent service to internal/external customers. All three programs provide a monetary award to employee’s that are selected for this recognition.

IDEAL Awards

The annual IDEAL awards are for employees who exemplify the College’s values of integrity, diversity and inclusion, excellence, access, and learning for life through performance and service and whose exceptional professional accomplishments, contributions, and activities support the mission of the College and the Virginia Community College System, promote a rigorous learning environment (instructional faculty), and demonstrate extraordinary talent.

Eligibility: An award will be presented annually in the spring to employees in each of the following categories: 

Full-time instructional faculty (see teaching faculty reward and recognition)
Full-time classified staff, administrative, and professional faculty
Part-time wage employees
Adjunct faculty
Dual Enrollment faculty 

Individuals are eligible for the IDEAL award once every three years.

Procedures for Classified Staff, Administrative or Professional Faculty, and Wage Employees: A full-time classified staff, administrative or professional faculty who is not in their first year of employment and who must have received an evaluative rating of “Meets Expectations” in their last evaluation are eligible. Part-time staff (wage employees) who are not in their first year of employment and have the endorsement of their supervisor are eligible. Eligible employees as described above may be self-nominated or may be nominated any college employee, student, or member of the community, with the exception of family members. Nominations for this award are open from August through March 31 each year. Once a nomination is received, the employee will be notified and given the opportunity to provide documentation in support of the nomination (i.e. letter from supervisor, evaluation). Documentation must be submitted to the ad hoc committee for Annual Recognition by the deadline, typically at least two weeks before the announcement. Evidence provided should be sufficient to establish that the accomplishment, contribution, or activity was innovative or otherwise distinctive, impactful, and supportive of the College’s mission, vision, and values.

Award Amount and Recognition

Full-time classified staff and administrative and professional faculty are eligible for $2,000. Part-time/wage employees are eligible for $750.00 The award will be presented annually at a spring meeting and winners will be recognized in the Commencement Program and recognized at the Commencement Ceremony. 

IDEAL Award Nomination Form

Procedures for Full-time and Adjunct Teaching Faculty

This award is presented each year to one full-faculty member, one adjunct faculty member, and one Dual Enrollment faculty member.           

Eligibility:  In order to be eligible to receive an award, full-time faculty must be a member of the full-time teaching faculty who is not in their first year of full-time employment; must have received an evaluative rating of “Meets Expectations” as of the most recently completed comprehensive faculty evaluation; and, be current in the establishment, assessment, and satisfactory progress of Annual Performance and Professional Development Objectives. Adjunct (includes workforce instructors) and Dual Enrollment faculty must have taught for the College for a minimum of two semesters or the equivalent.

Nominations: An eligible faculty member may be self-nominated or may be nominated by any college employee, student, or member of the community, with the exception of family members. Nominations for this award are open from August through March 31 each year. Once a nomination is received, the employee will be notified and given the opportunity to provide documentation in support of the nomination (i.e. letter from supervisor, evaluation, list of accomplishments). Documentation must be submitted to the ad hoc committee for Annual Recognition by the deadline, typically at least two weeks before the announcement. Evidence provided should be sufficient to establish that the accomplishment, contribution, or activity was innovative or otherwise distinctive, impactful, and supportive of the College’s mission, vision, and values.

Award Amount and Recognition:  The IDEAL Faculty Excellence award winners will be announced at a spring meeting, recognized in the Commencement Program, and recognized at the Commencement Ceremony. The award amount for full-time faculty is $2,000, $750 for adjunct faculty, and $750 for Dual Enrollment faculty.

IDEAL Award Nomination Form

Dr. Ralph D. Elliott Award for Outstanding Service to Workforce Credentialing and Continuing Education 

Dr. Ralph D. Elliott, a Richmond County native and a 1962 Warsaw High School graduate, established the award at the RCC Educational Foundation to annually recognize excellence in workforce credential and continuing education instruction. The Dr. Ralph D. Elliott Award for Outstanding Service to Workforce Credentialing and Continuing Education recognizes an instructor, staff member or administrator for service as an excellent teacher or mentor; development or coordination of model programs; and, opening new avenues for the advancement of credential or continuing education.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible to receive an award, the faculty or staff member must work or teach in an area that supports non-credit instruction. Adjunct faculty and part-time staff are eligible for the award.

Procedures for Employees Supporting Non-credit Instruction: An eligible classified staff, administrative or professional faculty, adjunct faculty/instructor, or wage employee (part-time status) may be self-nominated or may be nominated any college employee, student, or member of the community, with the exception of family members. Nominations for this award are open from August through March 31 each year. Once a nomination is received, the employee will be notified and given the opportunity to provide documentation in support of the nomination (i.e. letter from supervisor, evaluation). Documentation must be submitted to the ad hoc committee for Annual Recognition by the deadline, typically two weeks before the announcement. Nominations will be collected as part of the IDEAL award nominations.

Award Amount and Recognition: Employees are eligible for $2,000 or the amount of the annual donation. The award will be presented annually at a spring meeting and winners will be recognized in the Commencement Program, and recognized at the Commencement Ceremony. Additionally, the employee’s name will be placed on the Elliott Plaque located on the Warsaw campus.
